The Wheels and the Winds

meditating chakrasThe human subtle anatomy includes the “wheels” along the central channel. The commonly known term for them is chakras or centers. Chakra is Sanskrit and means wheel; the wheel has a center. Also the wheel is the center point from which myriad of lesser channels or nadis proceed, like radiating spokes. All of this is energetic, therefore subtle. However, one needs to understand that the subtle causes the dense to happen or form. An analogy is how the air eventually causes the rain.

This week the Intermediate level of The Practice is moving more fully into the charya yoga tantra of the relation of the winds and the channels. This meditation is harmless and empowering IF the practitioner has right motivation and adequate meditative skill. Right motivation is foremost. Meditations done with the subtle anatomy for ego centered reasons will result in harm. Please know this. Practicing correctly is your responsibility.

What is wrong motivation? Seeking a thrill or a buzz, simply wanting to see if “I” can do this, doing so without belief or understanding in the subtle energy system and thus doing so for skeptical reasons, or not believing or understanding and therefore having no interest in personal transformation and the positive effect of that in your world.

What is right motivation? Seeking to understand how to create effective transformation within one’s self BECAUSE through changing one’s self we are changing the world. Therefore, right motivation includes the thoughts of well-being for others.
